Carbon removal from bricks

Over time bricks and other hard surfaces can develop a layer of carbon in inner city areas. The carbon sulfation is usually found under window sills and ledges. So when you see black marks under the window sills what can you do? Some will say you need to pressure wash bricks to remove the carbon build up. Unfortunately this method will not clean carbon from bricks. Instead, specialist chemicals are needed to remove the carbon, followed by a low pressure rinse.

Algae removal from brick

Algae builds up on brickwork over time. When bricks are shades of dark red, black or brown it be less noticeable. However light red, orange brick and yellow bricks show the algae growth clearly. To remove the algae from the brick it is best not to use high pressure. This is because the high pressure can damage the face of the bricks leaving them susceptible to frost damage.

Instead of high pressure cleaning we suggest the brickwork is cleaned using chemicals that will kill the algae growth on brick. Then the bricks would be steam cleaned under low pressure.
